Froggy: the 3D printed ball-jointed frog doll

Here is my first ball-jointed doll. I've long been captivated by these unique models but startled by their hefty price tags. When Sonia Verdu uploaded her stunning Robotica, it sparked me to create my own 3D printed doll. Although Froggy isn't a variation of her work, I must give Sonia credit, because if I hadn't had her design to refer to, it would have taken much longer to craft this frog. I created a prototype of Froggy back in February and took two prints to MRRF, where he generally received a positive response. After MRRF, I visited my cousin and his family in Chicago for a few days, where my two "nieces" provided detailed feedback on what they would change. I returned home and left Froggy alone while I worked on other projects but eventually returned to him and decided to add the following features: 1) People tend to pose dolls like humans if they look even slightly human. The original Froggy was designed to move like a frog, so I humanized his proportions and movements. He can now sit up and stand by himself. His head twists and is angled like a person's. 2) My mum suggested movable eyes, so I thought I'd see if I could do this. I'm thrilled that I could! 3) He has jointed and posable fingers. Sometimes I just enjoy making things more complicated for myself:-) He isn't the easiest model to print and assemble, but I really enjoyed creating him. He was modeled using a combination of Solidworks and Maya.
