Frigidaire ice maker tray fix - REVISED
thingiverse
I discovered a flaw in my initial design. A revised version has been in use for over a week without any indication of malfunction. A frequent failure with the ice maker used in Frigidaire french door refrigerators is the integral motor shaft that rotates the ice tray. The motor features a hollow rectangular plastic shaft that mates to a rectangular recess in the ice tray. This shaft tends to be brittle and will shear off from the front of the motor. Rather than spending over $100 on a new ice tray, I devised an alternative solution. To implement this fix, you'll need to trim any remaining plastic fragments from the front of the motor, leaving a flat surface (as shown in the image). This part then slides into the open cavity in the motor and provides a new drive shaft for the ice tray.
