Friedrich David Gilly, a German architect born in 1772, was the son of renowned architect David Gilly. As a child prodigy, Friedrich's exceptional talents were evident early on and he went on to teach notable architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. In 1788, Friedrich enrolled at Berlin's prestigious Akademie der Bildenden Künste, where his instructors included Carl Gotthard Langhans and Johann Gottfried Schadow. By the time Friedrich was just 26 years old, he had been appointed a professor at the esteemed Berlin Bauakademie, but sadly, his promising career was cut short when he passed away from tuberculosis at the young age of 28 in Karlsbad.
