Fridge Magnet Gear Spinner With Built-In Magnet
thingiverse
I loved the design and mesh of these gears, but I wanted something with no need for glue or bearings that could come loose. So, I remixed the medium-sized gear to have a free-spinning center piece where a magnet can be inserted mid-print. The tolerance of the inner part is 0.75mm, just right for my printer - not too tight and not too loose inside. You can see the magnets spinning in this video: https://youtu.be/JzEt2P-PI2s I'm using two 15mm x 2mm neodymium magnets that I insert into the center cavity once the walls are printed high enough. The cavity extends the full height of the print and is sized so the magnets can move freely inside, making it stick to the fridge on either side. A .stl of the center mechanism is included, which can be printed inside other gear models from the original thing. My Fusion 360 project is also included, allowing you to resize, change the tolerance, or add back in the pegs if needed.
