A few years ago, my older fridge/freezer started causing me problems - the freezer door would sometimes pop open when the main fridge door was closed. This would frequently go unnoticed, and much later we'd discover a lot of icy food. I put together an alarm using an Arduino with some various bits of code that I'd hacked together, and it worked really well. Recently, our backup 'party' freezer started having a similar issue, so I made another one and decided to document the process this time!
