Friction Hinge
thingiverse
Looking for a hinge that will keep things open, like being stuck in a closet? Try using a friction hinge! This adjustable friction hinge is super useful, as it keeps itself and what it's holding onto, completely open. Friction hinges are widely used, especially on laptop computers to keep the screen from succumbing to gravity, thanks to those clever friction hinges! We'd love your help in testing this design so feel free to report any problems you come across! If you like it, give it a like and let's get it shared with more people. Instructions To assemble this friction hinge, first, sand down the print. Then re-drill the holes on the hinge fingers to smooth out their insides. Next up, grab a bolt with a 5mm shaft diameter that's long enough to fit through all of the hinge fingers, along with a nylon locking nut to screw onto the bolt. Place rubber o-rings on each internal hinge finger contact point, which are marked in an earlier figure. After adding o-rings and bolt, just slip on a washer and tighten the nylon locking nut until you get the desired amount of friction.
