Fret Press Caul
thingiverse
I needed lots of different radius fret press cauls for installing frets on a multiscale guitar. This also included very large radius cauls, which I wasn't able to find for sale anywhere. I decided to try printing some cauls out of PLA and they worked incredibly well. In my opinion, the softer plastic actually works better than a hard brass caul, because it has a slight bend to it and conforms to the contour of the fretboard much better, allowing you to get a perfect press even if the radius is slightly mismatched. But they are still plenty strong to apply the necessary pressure when using an arbor press. Printed with PLA using 0.15mm layer hights and a 0.6mm nozzle (0.4mm would work better), 100% infill with 10 perimeter lines.
