French Press Replacement Bushing
thingiverse
I've experimented with every kind of coffee machine, from a single-cup Melitta to an enormous Saeco automatic coffee/cappuccino, and even made "cowboy coffee" on several occasions when no machine was available. That's why I standardized on the French press - it's simple, easy to clean, and takes up minimal space. I prefer designs that are elegant, meaning pleasingly ingenious and simple, and last week my world was shattered when my French press failed, in a small way. A 3D printer came to the rescue! The failure was caused by a crack in the tiny plastic bushing that aligned the coffee plunger. My new design replaces the standard snap-in part with a threaded two-part setup that provides more support for the plunger, making it more stable to use. The nut/bolt design also holds the inner plastic cap tightly against the outer chrome housing, preventing it from turning during use and blocking the coffee, which would otherwise spill. If you need this, here's my version - it prints in just a couple of minutes, so you can get your coffee quickly.
