French Cleat Mount Utility Cup Holder
thingiverse
I needed a utility cup and holder that integrates seamlessly with my French Cleat system on my workbench, providing effortless access to essential tools like pens, pencils, and my Xacto knife. To achieve this goal, I designed the holder, ring, and cup to complement each other perfectly. The holder mates flawlessly with my french cleats, which are cut at 45° angles and measure 19mm x 19mm. The ring connects securely to the holder bracket via a dovetail joint, while the cup is easily removable. To ensure smooth printing of the back bracket, I recommend printing it with supports, limited to the bed only, to accommodate its rounded tongue. For the ring, printing with a skirt will help the edge of the dovetail adhere properly where it meets the plate. Using Slic3r settings such as 8 loops, 0mm distance from object, and 1 layer skirt height yields optimal results. If trimmed carefully, the excess skirt material can be removed from the lower edge of the dovetail, allowing the ring to fit snugly yet remain fairly easy to remove. I'm planning to design additional ring sizes for various purposes, including beer bottles, travel coffee mugs, and pint glasses, with the goal of having a utility cup and another one for my beverage of choice. To accommodate the diverse range of French cleat systems, I've included FreeCAD files, designed using version 0.18, to make it easy to modify the models according to individual needs. Happy printing!
