French Cleat Bike Hook

French Cleat Bike Hook

thingiverse

This is a french cleat hook for a bycicle in my garage. Inner diameter of the hook is 60mm, but it'll probably hold a slightly fatter tire. French cleat opening is 46mm, and my system was made out of 1x3 cut in half with a 45 deg angle. I have a bunch of French cleats in my garage and wanted to see if I could print something to store my kids bikes after seeing other bike hooks on Thingiverse. French cleat adapters are easy to model and I tried to remix some existing hooks onto one, but the STLs wouldn't always render in openSCAD. I printed mine in PETG to withstand the heat, as I've had previous hooks give mid-summer that were printed out of PLA. While they didn't get really soft, the high load on them combined with heat caused them to flex and give. There is no way to print this without either having a weak French cleat, or a weak hook. I print it on the side, but either way I suggest using Cura's overlapping mesh settings for 100% infill (or equivalent) on whichever part you decide to make the weaker one.
