<i>UPDATE: I did a few tweaks to thicken the blade, make the handle a little wider, and make a triangular shape on the butt like some prop knives had. Plus the V2 version is scaled 30% larger, but still scale whichever one to a size that best suits your hand. To print I find the body is best rotated to upwards anywhere from 30 to 45 degrees; this will avoid stepping along the top of the model as well as make room on the print bed.</i> Hey, droogies! If you're like me, you've wanted your own crysknife since 1984. There are other version online, but I kinda wanted one with the more elongated hole pattern like I drew in high school. And yeah... it's a beautiful design and I just wanted to make one as well. This is really just the first pass on my version, but at least it's within the basic form factor of the concept art. The butt is separate for easier painting, and the height in some areas are intentionally taller than necessary for painting and sanding. Because reference images show some variation, future versions may include a different butt, different hole patterns, a less elongated hole shape, and maybe a metal collar between the handle and blade (if I can ever find good reference of how that works with this design). Then, maybe a sheath as in the scene with the Shadout Mapes. But for now, note that the holes near the blade could use some attention... I wasn't happy how they were turning out in Zbrush and felt those would be easier to address with a Dremmel for now. Besides, manually detailing the shape here and there can only add to the natural look. If you make one, I'd love to see pics. But anyway, print your own. Carve in your own details. Make yours unique and have fun with it. Ready yourself for Kralizec.
