Freigewehr-V2.5
thingiverse
After numerous redesigns and component replacements, my Freigewehr-V2.5 is a culmination of my contributions to the Humans vs Zombies (HvZ) and Nerf community. UPDATE (12 NOV 2017) This project has been temporarily put on hold due to the limitations of the selected components. Using only two relays and a couple of switches, achieving anything other than a full-auto dart-machine is quite challenging. More controlled fire and a more adaptable system are being explored in this project's successor (V3). UPDATE (5 MAY 2017) The front-end cage has been revised to make it easier to insert optional 9/16" brass, as well as the wiring. Front End 2.5.5 VERIFIED WORKING The flywheel shaft-hole has been slightly widened for easier fitting on 360-sized motors. UPDATE (3 MAY 2017) After an attempted build last week, I will be posting revised front and back ends with a bill of materials. Back End Revision: A corresponding hole has been added for the wires to travel internally. Front End Revision: Excess material has been removed, allowing for easier entry of the wires through the midsection. Additionally, this project is once again marked as a "Work-in-progress" due to a mechanical glitch in the front end. Printing at the limit of my current capabilities, I am unable to print the wheels and motor gears in a way that they don't occasionally jam. This jam causes one of my motors to give off a healthy puff of smoke. There are now two independent pairs of front ends and covers. I have been unable to get the indirect bearing and gear-drive working due to print/design problems. Despite redesigning the gears repeatedly with increasing tolerances, the gears quickly find jamming points while spinning and cause issues. Unless redesigning the front-end, I would suggest sticking to the direct-drive configuration.
