Freewing F-16 LED Afterburner Adapter for 70mm EDF Outrunner (Pro)

Update 2020/08/24: The V3 design has extended the flanges that get glued to the EDF housing, providing a larger surface area to hold the adapter in place and prevent it from coming loose due to vibrations. Additional ribs have been added to the adapter to further reinforce its grip on the housing. This design aims to counteract the warping of the housing caused by heat emitted from the motor unit. Five test flights with this new design have yielded no issues yet. --------------------------------------------------------- I've been installing DIY led afterburners in many of my jets lately, but one issue I've encountered is that there's no adapter available for 70mm outrunner motor EDF systems. This design is intended for use on the old "PRO" version of the Freewing 70mm F-16, which features a Freewing 3048-2300 Kv brushless outrunner. I suspect it will also work with the "normal" outrunner motor found in non-high performance versions, but this hasn't been confirmed as I don't own one. Three flights have taken place using this design so far, and no noticeable reduction in power has been observed. The system seems to function well, and further testing is ongoing to ensure its effectiveness. This is an experimental design due to the unique challenges of creating a functioning LED adapter for outrunner motors compared to inrunner motors. Please exercise caution when installing this design to avoid any potential issues. Ensure that it's installed cleanly, and verify that the motor isn't rubbing against the housing. Keep all wires and leads out of the way to prevent them from getting snagged by the spinning motor. Feedback is appreciated, and I'd like to know if this design also works on other 70mm EDF units. If you print and use it on different power systems, please let me know which ones work (and which don't). This will help others understand which jets are supported by this design. P.S. This adapter is intended to be glued directly to the fan housing. If you enjoy my designs, a tip would be appreciated. You can send tips to http://paypal.me/sukotto88.
