Freewing A-6 Intruder Large Bomb Load
thingiverse
After spending a long time, I finally got around to completing this model. This is designed to provide the Freewing A-6 Intruder with scale full bomb load on the wing hardpoints. This file includes wing plugs, weapons pylon, attachment hardware, and the bombs (both standard Mk82 and SnakeEyes). Of course, this bomb rack and pylon set can be used for other aircraft too. These bombs are scaled to be ~1:14, so you'll need to scale up/down appropriately for whatever model your printing these for. The SnakeEye bombs are modified from apmech's design, which can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2872359 -------------------------------------------------------------- Tips and Suggestions: This bomb load extends back behind the trailing edge of the wing (just like on the real plane). This means that the bomb load may limit how much flap travel you can have. You can scale the pylon STL file up or down in the Z-Axis to get the clearance you desire, but I recommend printing a test piece and test fitting everything to make sure you're happy with the amount of flap travel you have. For the in-wing plugs, I suggest heating them up with a hair dryer or heat gun until they are become flexible, then form them to fit the curvature of the wing. Once they cool, then it's safe to glue them in place. You don't have to use my wing plugs or attachment hardware. You can also use the set from MotionRC here: https://www.motionrc.com/products/freewing-90mm-f-16c-weapons-attachment-hardware-fj306110916 While the bombs can technically "click" into place on the ejection rack, I recommend using some glue to make sure they don't fall off in flight. Please understand that 3D printing tolerances are not exact. What works for me may require scaling on your machine to fit properly. Also look into the Horizontal Expansion setting in Cura if you find the tolerances too tight or too loose. -------------------------------------------------------------- I want to help out other hobbyists, so I don't charge for my designs. However, if you like what I created and find it helpful, a tip is always appreciated. Tips can be sent to: http://paypal.me/sukotto88
