Freestyle Libre Sensor Saver , Protector, Shield
thingiverse
Hi Folks, If you use a Libre system, you're probably aware of the issues that arise when attaching sensors to clothing, like wearing a T-shirt. I've removed many sensors in this way and designed this protective shield as a result. Currently, it's the first part of a comprehensive system, with my intention being to create a cutter for tape so users can cut out precise tapes for this shield, ensuring it sticks securely to skin. I'll update this project once all necessary parts are available. This is version 1 of the shield, which will be improved upon in future iterations. The design works perfectly with the sensor, and if it's too large or small, simply scale it up or down by 1-3 percent or more, depending on your printer's capabilities. I recommend printing it at a 0.1 resolution to avoid requiring finishing touches. To enhance its performance, you can sand the inner circle to ensure a smooth fit with the sensor. Tips: You don't need adhesive tape for it to stick; the shield holds through the sensor itself. If you want extra security, cut out a piece of tape to stick it to your skin or place double-sided adhesive tape in the inner circle. I tested this setup for a week and found it effective without any adhesive tape. Ultimately, it's up to your personal preference. I printed mine using PLA, and neither my skin nor the shield reacted negatively. If you have questions, feel free to leave a comment. SAFETY WARNING: When wearing this device on your body, use it in your own responsibility and risk. This project remains a Work In Progress!
