Free Thingiverse (not a protest)

Makerbot's decision to close source their printer disappointed its supportive maker community, who championed the company's initial goal of creating an open-source future based on RepRap designs. Nevertheless, Makerbot is a good company deserving success, so let's encourage them to keep Thingiverse open by uploading all Creative Commons (or similar) licensed designs daily via Bittorrent or similar platforms, including images, thumbnails, 3D models, derivatives, and related information. Comments are also welcome, even if the Terms of Service need updating. This will empower the community to innovate in utilizing, searching, and browsing Thingiverse's data. As a central repository for uploading and leading makers worldwide, let's keep Thingiverse open and free. Share this post, print the object, build derivatives, and spread the word to ensure an open future for all.
