Free Spinning Pin for Spool Holder
thingiverse
This is a remix to the Overhead Spool Holder by NightOowl located at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2679000 . I created this design to eliminate friction and stress from the extruder. Print the pin standing up on one end with supports in place. I used PLA2 with an infill of 50% since it is supporting a roll of filament weighing 2.2 Ibs; however, you should be able to use 20 - 25% without any issues. I discovered that the end of the pin which has the support is slightly tighter than the top end, which works out perfectly once the bearing is pushed in, and it will not come out easily. The other end of the pin has a little looser tolerance and the end cap is easily removable to change out the filament as needed. The following items were used: Filament: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0777MQTRK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Bearings: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C6FL8TW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 What to Print: 2x Bearing Pin Caps 1x Spool Holder Pin *Note: The differences between 2v vs 3v Spool Holder Pin is one side of the pin has a looser tolerance on the ID for 3v_Spool Holder Pin. The other one labeled 2v_Spool Holder Pin the ID is the same on both sides.
