The AS Val model operates without a separate silencer, utilizing its subsonic 9×39mm cartridge and integral suppressor system to minimize sound. Chambered in 9×39mm, this design was developed alongside the VSS Vintorez for precision shooting applications. To reduce barrel pressure behind the projectile, four rows of nine holes are drilled near the rifling, allowing gases to escape into the suppressor. The resulting muzzle flash is effectively concealed and the overall noise level is reduced to 130 dB. No design elements on this model target reducing action noise.
