Free Golum Topper ($7 Cane/Walking Hiking Sticks)

Thanks to LSMiniatures for a fantastic Golum bust to work with! As a collector of unusual things, I'm always on the lookout for unique items to add to my collection. That's why I was thrilled to discover some cane and walking stick toppers that I knew would make an amazing series of remixes - and, of course, the finished sticks. You can create an incredible solid oak cane or walking stick for under $7! To get started, you'll need a 1” oak dowel, which costs about $6 at Home Depot. You'll also need a 1” rubber leg tip, available in packs of four for around $4 on Amazon. Here are some links to help you find the right materials: * 1” Oak Dowel: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Builder-s-Choice-1-in-x-36-in-Oak-Round-Dowel-HDDO136/206184686 * 1” Leg Tip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QD30TE The topper STL file is designed for use with a 1” dowel when printed at 100% scale. If you want to adapt it for a different size stick, simply adjust the settings accordingly. I print my toppers at 20% infill and then add a professional finish by painting them and coating them with a high-gloss 2-part epoxy resin - just like I'm using in the link below: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BM9LHRB To assemble your walking stick, simply print the topper, attach it to the finished dowel (which you'll have sanded and clear-coated), and secure it with a suitable adhesive. You can use some of the 2-part resin I've mixed up for my final topper coat - it's easy to apply and provides a strong bond. With this project, you'll end up with an amazing walking stick - or several, if you're as enthusiastic about collecting unique items as I am!
