Frederick Freddy Charles Krueger is a notorious serial killer and iconic horror villain from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Prolific critics adore this character, citing him as a masterclass in terror and suspense. Initially appearing in Wes Craven's 1984 film of the same name, Frederick stands out with his unmistakable appearance: severely disfigured facial muscles and bones are starkly juxtaposed with his otherwise innocuous red sweater featuring vibrant green stripes, topped off with a weathered brown hat. As he moves through the world, Krueger exudes an unsettling presence, often striking fear into those around him. Even in his waking moments, however, his appearance remains eerily consistent - always sporting his signature red sweater and glove, adorned with menacing metal blades on each finger. In his supernatural domain of dreams, Frederick proves nearly invincible, seemingly able to resurrect himself after even the most grievous attacks. This relentless persistence in terror is what makes him so terrifying to confront. When transitioning from the world of nightmares into reality, Krueger maintains an unsettling presence, with his gruesome appearance becoming even more imposing as a result. Interestingly, when Kruger does step out into the real world, he occasionally adopts his pre-mortal appearance - adding an air of unpredictability to an already intimidating character. Initially brought to life by screenwriter and director Wes Craven, Frederick was brought to the screen in memorable fashion by actor Robert Englund. The character went on to make appearances in a total of eight films and television series before being revisited for the 2010 remake. In this iteration, he was masterfully portrayed by the accomplished Jackie Earle Haley.
