FRC Team 1991 The Dragons - FIRST Power Up Robot
grabcad
This FIRST Power Up competition robot is by Team 1991's creation, featuring a modular swerve drive system in the chassis that allows for quicker positioning and sharper turns. The robot comprises three main components: the drive train, intake, and elevator. The drive train components are made of 0.125" 6061 aluminum alloy, laser-cut and bent using a hydraulic press brake. The unique intake system uses "reach grabbing" with bungees and intake wheels that can flip upside down for increased height. It underwent multiple iterations before settling on the current design, which cuts weight by using plastic tubing. The elevator utilizes a chain-driven stage and pulley-driven intake carriage, delivering climbing hooks driven by a winch. This combination allows for stacking three cubes atop each other when necessary. As Lead Design Engineer, the student oversees the design/CAD team, optimizing the robot for competition and feasibility of manufacturing. They also teach SolidWorks to other team members.
