This is team 5036's 2019 Robot for the Deep Space game. All CAD was completed in AutoCAD Inventor; numerous prototypes were built and tested in the shop to ensure that we constructed the most efficient mechanism possible for the game. The Drivetrain is an AM14U3 kit bot chassis with a cutout at the front, enabling the Cargo (a 13-inch circumference ball) to pass through with ease. This robot features a cargo intake that springs back and forth on a piston. The intake has mecanum wheels guiding the ball toward the center and in the center has compliant wheels guiding the ball toward the conveyor. The conveyor system carries the ball upwards using a pulley-and-belt system. The intake is powered by a 775 motor, while the conveyor is powered through dual 775 motors. The hatch mechanism is a wheel-based system that utilizes four soft Colson wheels to grasp and release the hatch through the hole in the middle of the hatch. The hatch mechanism moves back and forth on a linear slide system pushed using dual pistons. The hatch mechanism is powered by a single 775 motor.
