Frankinshaw 3 (April 2006)
sketchfab
The stone block was discovered near Frankinshaw Well on High Moor, south of Newsham, in North Yorkshire. This cairn is one of three sites featuring carvings found within a probable prehistoric monument on Frankinshaw. Tim Laurie first documented this stone, and it's listed as reference 78 in Beckensall & Laurie's publication from 1998 called 'Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale.' This particular stone lies outside the scope of NADRAP and wasn't included in data submitted to ADS for ERA. Among these carvings, this one is the most intricate, showcasing motifs made up of cups varying in size and depth, along with grooves. A model was created from 7 stereo pairs captured by Team 5 during NADRAP recording in April 2006. The imagery is part of the full NADRAP archive stored at Historic England.
