Frankinshaw 2 (April 2006)
sketchfab
A weathered sandstone block discovered near Frankinshaw Well on High Moor, south of Newsham in North Yorkshire, showcases one of three engravings found within a likely prehistoric cairn at Frankinshaw. Initially documented by Tim Laurie, this stone is referenced as 80 in Beckensall & Laurie's 1998 publication "Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale." The stone lay outside the NADRAP area, thus not included in the data submitted to ADS for ERA. Motifs visible on the stone include multiple cups of varying sizes, conjoined cups, and a distinctive groove. A 3D model was created from five stereo pairs captured during NADRAP recording in April 2006. The imagery forms part of the NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England.
