Frankenstein Light Switch Remix
thingiverse
I wanted to create one of these switches for a friend who's into steampunk, and with my irrepressible urge to modify anything that crosses my path, I decided to give this switch a bit of a makeover. So far, I've only managed to produce a single version of the switch, but I'm planning to make double, triple, or even a modular version if time allows. I might also create versions of the base plate compatible with rocker or paddle type switches. What I did was break down the two main components of the switch into sub-components, making it possible to print them in different colors and enhance the overall look of the switch. I printed the contacts and switch bars in gold to mimic copper, while the handle, actuator, and rocker are black, and the base plate is made from wood PLA. Since the wood PLA wasn't dark enough, I stained the base plate with a dark oak stain, which I think looks better. The four contacts will simply fit snugly into the base plate. I removed the ribs running along the hollowed-out area on the underside of the original base plate and let S3D generate supports in their place, which worked perfectly.
