The Framptobot is a friendly modular robot designed with a focus on low-cost construction and easy assembly. Constructed from standard components and household items, this bot features an Arduino at its core, which expertly controls all operations. We've successfully implemented this robot in our small electronics club for kids, providing comprehensive documentation on hardware and software components for effortless understanding. Visit https://framptobot.org/ to access detailed guides. The Framptobot's design emphasizes reusability of parts, held together with clips or bolts that can be easily removed. All designed components are available for free download and printing using any 3D printer, while the software is also freely accessible for download. In addition to the base robot, a range of add-ons are available for download on the same basis, consisting of inserts that fit onto the platform at the front or alternative lids. These include: * Flipper and spinner inserts for mini robot combat * A 4-wheel drive version utilizing both an insert and extended lid * An insert for a gripper capable of grasping and lifting small objects * A tall lid with fittings for an AA battery pack The minimum bill of materials required includes: * Approximately 70g of PLA filament * Two continuous rotation FS90R servos * An Arduino Nano or pro-mini * A battery (or AA battery pack) * Various wires, connectors, and bolts * Rubber bands or bicycle inner-tubes for tyres Based on current UK prices in early 2018, the total build cost would be approximately £15, with costs rising slightly if some sundry items are not already available.
