Framed Lithophane Photo Light

Framed Lithophane Photo Light

myminifactory

This was a gift I put together as an anniversary gift for my partner. The entire object is made up of five printed parts, including one frame, one backing, two stands, and a lithophane photo of your choice. I have not included the photo I used, but there are plenty of free methods for creating lithophane STLs from your own photos (I used Cura). I used a white frame around the photo that was 2.5mm at the top and bottom and 4.5mm on either side. The base where the photo was raised off the ground is 0.9mm thick. The photo inside this frame measures 80mm by 116mm. When creating the lithophane, using these measurements will ensure that the created STL fits in this particular frame. If you want, I can also create custom-sided frames to a photo of your choice for a small fee and send the altered STLs directly to you. This was designed to house LED strips behind the image to light it up from the inside, and it's made so that the power cable from the lights can pass through a hole in the back and run through a track I used three short strips wired together in warm white. However, you can also use dimmable and RGB strips if you want more control over the color and brightness. There is also a hole suitable for a hook or nail, should you want to hang this on the wall. I designed this object completely from scratch, but the credit for the frame stand file goes to Peter Lachman, and his design can be found on Thingiverse here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:619259 Print settings: All with 0.2 layer height and 0.3 initial layer. The frame is printed with 100% infill. The backing is printed with 20% infill, 1.2mm thick walls, and 1.2mm thick top and bottom (this allows light to shine through, creating the backlight). The lithophane is printed with 100% infill. Supports are printed with 100% infill.
