Frame for UDI U816 Quadcopter
thingiverse
The UDI U816 helicopter toy is an impressive addition to your collection. Buy it on Amazon Prime for $60 or directly from Banggood for around $40. To enhance its design, consider purchasing it from Etsy and Tindie. The quadcopter comes with a 2.4GHz radio transmitter, two batteries, and extra blades; however, the plastic circuit cover is fragile. The helicopter weighs approximately 30g and measures 7 inches tip to tip. The 3D-printed frame is about 15g but adds stability to control. Unfortunately, printing the blades was unsuccessful in my experience. To print the full frame, ensure your printer can accommodate its size; if not, split it into quadrants without requiring rafts or support. Apply acetone along the edges of the quadrants, flip them upside down, and align them together. Remove the original plastic UFO decal and attach the frame to the helicopter using the four slots that fit over the motor's crossbars. You may need to re-trim the helicopter, especially for yaw control, due to balance changes.
