Frame for Lithophanes
thingiverse
A frame made of two parts, a base and a cover, and the lithophane that can be easily replaced with other lithophanes. Light is provided by leds mounted on a meter long wire connected to a battery compartment. I bought about twenty of those on Amazon for a few euros, nothing to write home about it. The base contains support for the battery compartment and vertical rods to support the led lights properly. The better Leds are mounted the prettier the effect. The lithophanes themselves are max height 128mm, by 80 mm and max thickness between 2.5 and 3 mm. Lithophanes slide into position without the need for additional support. The two parts are connected and held to each other via tiny magnet cubes of 4x4x4 mm that you can find on Amazon. I glued them to their position with minute rapid superglue. Lithophanes are easily made by creating an image with the right dimensions (see above) and importing into CURA where you only need to check the height and breadth dimensions and input the thickness of the lithophane before slicing and printing. If you print it latger than the suggested dimensions you 'll need to sand it to fit in the corresponding Cover slot.
