The Fram vessel was utilized by Norwegian explorers such as Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, Oscar Wisting, and Roald Amundsen for Arctic and Antarctic missions between 1893 and 1912. Scottish-Norwegian shipbuilder Colin Archer designed and constructed the ship for Nansen's 1893 Arctic journey that aimed to freeze Fram in the ice sheet, drifting over the North Pole. This wooden ship is recognized for reaching latitudes of 85°57'N northward and 78°41'S southward. Today, Fram is preserved at Oslo's Fram Museum in Norway.
