Fragmentary Statuette of a Vizier
myminifactory
This statue depicts a high-ranking official known as a vizier, who was responsible for overseeing administrative and judicial matters across half the country. A cord encircles his neck, secured by a sliding clasp that can be seen at the back. The vizier's seal typically hung from this cord but remained hidden beneath his wrapped garment. Inscriptions carved on columns refer to "beautiful light" and the "one who lives' sole sun", phrases that unmistakably evoke the Amarna religion. The smooth modeling of the body and the natural curve of the arms also betray the aesthetic sensibilities of the period, which was marked by the reign of Akhenaten.
