A Fragment of a Sarcophagus Bowl from Ancient Italy, Dated 3rd Century This exquisite fragment of a sarcophagus bowl originates from the ancient land of Italy and dates back to the 3rd century. Currently housed in the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire within the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium, this masterpiece is made possible through the innovative technology of CapturingReality. The sculpture depicts a bust of the deceased individual turned towards the left, with their left arm resting comfortably on the armrest of their seat. Behind the bust lies a beautifully crafted drapery known as a parapetasma, adding an extra layer of elegance to this already stunning piece. Notably, the position of the arms suggests that the deceased was holding a rotulus, or roll of papyrus, which was commonly found in effigies of scholars.
