Fragment of a stele-door
sketchfab
A fragment of a stele-door from Middle Ille century Acmonia (Phrygia) is housed in the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). CapturingReality captured this image. On display to the left is the remaining frame of a door adorned with three crowns. The presence of these crowns can be attributed to an inscription found on this fragment and another aufre, which was copied but only discovered in 1933. The owner of the tomb started his career by working in the archives and treasury of the state before becoming agoranome and strategist thanks to the council and people's approval, as indicated by the Brussels fragment. The gerontia, a college of old men, awarded a crown to the deceased for building the public weighing platform beside the market he once managed. This platform was accompanied by a bureau of weights and measures. Follow me on Twitter at @GeoffreyMarchal for more updates.
