Fragment of a grave stele

This exceptional fragment was unearthed in Athens' historic Kerameikos, situated conveniently near the ancient Dipylon Gate. It originates from a towering stele's summit and proudly preserves the exquisite head of a discobolos. The remarkable quality of the carving and the striking projection of the head onto the disc are truly breathtaking. A stunningly vivid work by the renowned "Master of the Rampin horseman" has been brought to light through this incredible discovery.
