Fragment of a grave stele

Fragment of a grave monument crafted from Thasian marble. Discovered in Dikaia, Thrace, this monumental fragment is mostly a plaster replica of the original, now housed at the Komotini Museum. The stele itself is an amphiglyphon; one side presents a youthful figure moving to the right, while the opposite side portrays his dog and attendant, who bears a stool on his shoulder. This exceptional example showcases the finest aspects of Ionian artistic expression.
