Fragment from the Room of the Faun
myminifactory
Small cult pillar of Hecate (*hekateion*) stands tall as guardian goddess of house and hearth, doors and ways in triple forms, surrounded by three dancing Charities. An offering bowl or ritual ablutions bowl is fixed to the top of the pillar. The Barberini Faun, a masterwork of Greek sculpture and showpiece of the Glyptothek, is united with the "Medusa Rondanini", admired by Goethe, and the famous "Munich Votive Relief" in this round room modeled on the Roman Pantheon. Displayed at the Antike am Königsplatz in Munich, a museum showcases Bavaria's collections of antiquities from Greece, Etruria and Rome. The sculpture collection is located in the opposite Glyptothek, while works created in Bavaria are displayed in a separate museum. Ancient Egypt has its own dedicated museum.
