!Fragile! Garmin Varia Radar Quarter Turn Mount Clip for Saddlebags
thingiverse
WARNING: This design failed when I hit a rough bump on the road, causing my radar to fly off the bike. Based on this experience, I strongly advise against using it and instead recommend the more robust design that I've since developed. I'm leaving this up for reference purposes. I created this adapter specifically to attach the Varia Radar to the back of saddlebags when there's insufficient space on the seat post. It's crucial to mount the radar perpendicular to the ground, so if your saddlebag has a different angle, measure it (I used my phone's accelerometer with the GPS Status app to determine the exact angle) and modify the FreeCAD file accordingly. The FreeCAD file is highly customizable; refer to the image of the parameters for more information. To ensure structural integrity, print this adapter in the orientation shown on the picture, with supports, using PETG (or ABS) material. Printing it with PLA may cause deformation due to heat, and its brittleness makes it prone to failure and breakage. This design could also be useful for attaching other quarter turn mount devices with clip-on systems to either your bike, clothing, or bags, not just the Varia Radar. Good luck, enjoy, and please consider dropping a comment or posting a make if you find this design helpful!
