FractalDesign Node 304 Case: Mounting Extender for Western Digital HDDs (fixes missing screw hole problem)
thingiverse
Fractal Design's Node 304 MiniITX case is a sought-after, sleek NAS enclosure that's perfect for use with FreeNAS. It has space for six 3.5" full height hard drives. When I upgraded to eight terabyte Western Digital WD80EZAZ Desktop Series Hard Disks, I encountered an issue. These disks don't follow the standard screw hole layout for 3.5" HDDs and are missing middle screw holes. To address this problem, I created an extender that allows these WD drives to be mounted using at least three screws. The images provide a clear explanation of my solution.
