FractalDesign Node 304 Case: Mount for up to 4 additional 2.5" SSDs/HDDs
thingiverse
Fractal Design's sleek Node 304 MiniITX case is a top choice for NAS enthusiasts, especially those using FreeNAS. It boasts six full height 3.5" bays perfect for storing hard drives. My tech-savvy partner created a clever mounting frame that allows up to four 2.5" SSDs with a maximum thickness of 7mm to be installed without taking up valuable 3.5" bay space. I'm proud to share this innovative design with you, thanks to my partner's consent and some minor tweaks I made. Before installing the frame, swap out the speed switch on the rear of the enclosure for the fans' screws. This will make room for attaching the fixture that holds the frame in place. Don't worry about stripping the fan wires; simply connect them directly to the motherboard. These super-quiet fans deserve to run at full speed. Be sure to check out my other Node 304 mods on Thingiverse for more inspiring ideas. Thanks again for your helpful tip!
