Fractal Mandelbrot Vases, Boxes, Planters, Flameless Tealight Holders - Two Styles
thingiverse
Our own Venus of Willendorf comes to mind, a meditating Teletubbie too - or maybe something more profound: a stunning Mandelbrot planter/flameless tealight holder/box. You may have already discovered that loading a JPG of the famous mathematical set into your slicer doesn't automatically yield a usable or aesthetically pleasing form, yet its beauty is undeniable even as its tactile essence remains elusive. These 3D attempts to capture that beauty were crafted and refined in Mathematica and Photoshop with final touch-ups in MeshMixer and ReMake. A cleaner, more solid version of Vase 1 is now available online, featuring a streamlined design you'll appreciate. To print this vase, use the standard vase mode with 0% infill and no top layer, scaling its height to your liking. I've also included the original photos used in creating these designs, derived from adjusting settings within MandelbrotSetPlot[] in Mathematica. Prints are available on Etsy at https://www.etsy.com/listing/507402982/.
