Fractal Flake Vase

Fractal Flake Vase

thingiverse

This shape was originally designed as a lamp shade for a chandelier, drawing inspiration from a fractal 2D-shape reminiscent of the Koch-curve but featuring hexagons instead. The 2D-shape is manipulated along the extrusion path in terms of rotation, size, and fractal-depth. The file should be printed using spiral or vase mode, where only the outer shell is utilized. A thickness of 0.4-0.6 mm strikes a good balance between stiffness and translucency. The geometry was created utilizing Rhino3D and Grasshopper.
