Fractal design - Radar dish
thingiverse
This is a reimagined version of the fractal sphere remix. I cut a sphere in half to begin crafting the design. Filling the fractal mesh with solid material brings it to life. Cutting out another half sphere creates the hull inside, taking shape. Adding a base plate enables mounting on Deko Ball Radar stands for display. The dipole agitator could be crafted from metal for added durability. Envisioning an LED at the tip of the beam adds an extra layer of excitement. The design is loosely inspired by the original dish mounted on the roof of the Witch House, transmitting and receiving cabin of the S-75W (SA-2 Guideline). https://thingiverse-production-new.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/06/05/21/a6/13/drehturm2.gif Previewing as an animated GIF for a thrilling effect. The glass ball stand with remote control is another interesting design element. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3936221 After printing it out, I notice that the outer shape looks good, but the support material creates a messy situation. Removing the support proves to be quite challenging.
