The tabs on the wooden one may or may not snap nicely, depending on the diameter of your laser beam (kerf) and speed and power settings. If you want to apply glue, I recommend one drop of hot glue on the tip. The final sculpture has a diameter of approximately 16cm if made from 3mm material. For use with 4mm scale, design up by 133%. (5mm -> 167%, 6mm -> 200%) 1) 3mm plywood I am using two colors: red to cut the material, green to engrave (mark) the surface. This is the most sturdy one. Made by lasercutting, the tabs are dark. This gives some nice contrasts. For a "cleaner" finish, try the other versions. In this file, an extra svg layer with a smaller version is included. Not to be used unless you're up for some extra challenge. 2) 3mm EPP foam (e.g. depron) Very delicate to laser. The foam dissolves already with very little energy. Be extra careful when lasercutting this. The material may ignite! The foam version is pure white. No burn marks anywhere. And the foam is translucent, special effect: Put lights inside or behind! The tabs have a large overlap and nicely snap into position. No glue needed. 3) 3mm Kapa (or Airplac, or similar) This material is a sandwich of two layers of cardboard, with foam in between. I am using two colors: red to cut the material, green to cut only the first layer of cardboard, but not the second one. Needs some adjustment to get this right. This allows us to use tabs with a nice snap and still have a perfectly smooth surface.
