FPV mask with diopter lens
thingiverse
Build a FPV mask that fits my face perfectly using my 3D printer. Since standard goggles with two separate LCDs won't work, I had to modify a commercial mask to fit my eyes. To find the perfect length, I created a template to align my face and the center of my eyes with the monitor and lenses on my screen. This helped me determine the ideal dimensions. I made several prints to check the proper alignment and had plenty of scrap printings - you can see one in the photo. After trying out different sizes, I found these dimensions worked best: inter-pupillary distance is 60mm (lens diameter is 55mm, and can accommodate IPD between 50-70mm), lens/fresnel is 44-75mm (can be adjusted with a slider), and lens/LCD display is 118mm. Next, I needed to figure out how to install dioptic lenses and make it easy to swap them. You can easily modify the length of the parts to fit your eyes perfectly. This is my version 11 prototype - it's finally fully working and tested in flight.
