FPV Ground recording station for Connex HD, Mini and Prosight
thingiverse
When the new Connex HD FPV system for small quads and racing drones hits the market with its latest model, the Connex Prosight, one noticeable feature is the absence of an onboard recording facility. This is because a non-recording factory-supplied camera is used, but don't worry, that's not a problem at all due to its lossless HD downlink capability. The footage can be recorded on the ground with ease. I've personally used a Hauppage Rocket PVR, and it's performed exceptionally well compared to those cheaper "Gameboy" HD recorders. While it may cost a bit more, it works seamlessly with the Connex system. I've even tried it out with the full HD setup, and it functions perfectly – there's no reason why it shouldn't work just as well with either the Mini or Prosight models once they're released. The printed box that comes with the system can be mounted on a tripod to keep everything organized. It neatly tidies up cables, batteries, and other accessories that would otherwise create a tangled mess on the ground. I've chosen to clamp mine to the side of the tripod for now, but if needed, I'll design an adapter to utilize the camera mount on the tripod instead. Once you have everything set up, all it takes is pressing the big red button to start recording.
