FPV Anemometer / Wind Vane (with bearings)
thingiverse
If you're into FPV, you've probably got some props lying around. Why not use one to create a cool wind vane? You'll need a 5-inch triblade prop and two miniature ball bearings - six by thirteen by five millimeters in size. You can find them on eBay. The bearings are cleverly hidden from the rain, which is great news for any weather-sensitive enthusiasts out there. If you want to take it up a notch, consider using a high-end bearing designed specifically for props. They're made of zirconia and offer superior durability. After months of testing, this setup works perfectly fine and is extremely sensitive to even the slightest breeze. Give it a try! Some key tips to keep in mind: * All parts are press fit together. * Make sure the tail is vertical; you can use some glue if needed. * Add some very thin oil to the prop bearing for improved spinning performance. * Use white filament or paint it so it doesn't melt under the sun's intense rays. * Print the hubs, bearing holders, and prop cover with 100% infill for added stability. The logo "Aeolos" is a nod to the Greek god of wind - fitting, don't you think?
