A self-propelled production storage and offloading unit is a floating vessel utilized by the offshore oil and gas industry for the extraction and processing of hydrocarbons, as well as for the storage of crude oil. A PSO vessel is designed to receive hydrocarbons produced by itself or from nearby platforms or subsea templates, process them, and store crude oil until it can be transferred onto a tanker or, less frequently, transported through a pipeline. PSOs are preferred in frontier offshore regions because they are easy to install, and do not require a local pipeline infrastructure to export oil. PSOs can be converted from an oil tanker or built as a specially designed vessel for the application. A vessel used solely for storing crude oil (without processing it) is referred to as a floating storage and offloading unit. Recent advancements in LNG production necessitate relocating conventional LNG processing trains into the ocean to unlock remote, smaller gas fields that would not be economically viable otherwise, reduce capital expenditures, and minimize environmental impact. Emerging new types of FLNG facilities will be utilized. Unlike PSOs, apart from gas production, storage, and offloading, they will also enable full-scale deep processing, similar to onshore LNG plants but condensed to 25% of their footprint. The first three FLNGs were constructed in 2016: Prelude FLNG (Shell), PFLNG1, and PFLNG2 (Petronas). fbx stl 3ds obj zpr bip glb skp
