I'm excited to share our entry for the #SouvenirsChallenge 3D scan challenge. My wife and I created Foxie during a creative honeymoon class that was recommended by local people. One plank, some wool, and a not-so-great painting job came together to create our favorite souvenir from that trip. Let's talk about the model itself. The wool was really tricky to get right. I had two options: use haircards with a simple wool texture or capture it as an integral part of the model. I decided to take extra pictures to get as much detail as possible from those hairs, but the final quality was limited by my camera and Foxie's size. The model is decimated from 20 million polygons down to 1 million to keep as much geometry as possible – especially with that wool!
