Fox: A Simple Gizmo to Test Any Filament and Make a Collection of Filament Samples. The Fox Gizmo makes a great print test too. Everything you want to see in a torture test is embedded in one single model, making it quick to be printed. Fox Gizmo allows you to check: Transparency Consistency Stringing Trickeling Curling Doming Overheating Overhangs (40-63°) Holes Details Print Settings: Printer: Prusa i3, CoreXY Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: Any, doesn't matter Notes: Don't expect perfect prints anytime. The Fox Gizmo is meant to reveal any filament issue. Some filaments are good for some purpose and rubbish on others. It's a good thing to print your Fox Gizmo at the end of the spool when you know the perfect print settings for that filament. Then, keep with the Fox Gizmo a sample of the filament and write below the plate the type and print settings for your collection. So when you're in search of a filament for a particular project or your next order, your collection will help you, your friend, or a customer make up their mind. How I Designed This: An idea leads to a fox... You probably know the 3D Benchy or Marvin. There are some dedicated tests (overhangs, bridges, temperature, etc.) and torture tests too for your printer. Honestly, since the start, I was in search of a simple model that prints quickly and covers all you want to check. After a few years searching, I started a filament collection with several unsatisfying models, but I didn't find the grail. So, I started assembling simple shapes together, covering all the tests I wanted in a single piece. I wanted a large base to write filament type and settings then a bunch of planes, overhangs, holes, thin walls, details, and two little towers to reveal stringing on top. The overall piece looked like a strange dog. I decided to refine the model to a recognizable shape. It ended up looking like a wolf or a fox, so I changed the detail parts using font letters F and X with the M3 hole in between: FoX. Why not?
