Fox and Hounds Board Game
thingiverse
Human: Fox and Hounds is played on an 8x8 grid similar to a chess board or checkers board. Four pawns of the same color act as hounds, while one pawn of a different color represents the fox. The hounds are positioned at b8, d8, f8, and h8, with the single fox piece starting at e1. The fox begins play. As the fox moves diagonally one square forward or backward to an adjacent empty space each turn, the hounds pursue it in a similar manner. However, their diagonal movement is restricted to only one field forward towards row 1 on the board. The game takes place solely on the chess board's dark squares due to the restrictions of diagonal movement. In this version of the game, there are no rules allowing for capturing by jumping or stacking pieces on top of each other. The fox cannot jump over an opponent's piece as in Checkers nor can it replace a hound by moving onto its square. The objective is simple: the fox wins if it reaches the opposite side of the board (the 8th row where the hounds began their pursuit), while the hounds succeed if they manage to block the fox so that it has no valid moves left. If played perfectly, the outcome is inevitable - the hounds will emerge victorious.
